ABOUT ABOUT

SPECIAL! This event takes place at Farmington Hills Nature Center.  Please register through their website HERE.

The Spring Equinox ushers in the return of life to the Northern Hemisphere. On the equinox, day and night, dark and light are balanced. We will celebrate this event with a forest bathing walk, ending with the creation of a Sikuli to hold our hopes, thoughts or wishes for a new year of light. The Sikuli, also called Ojos de Dios, are easy, beautiful objects created from yarn by the Huichol peoples of Mexico. A Sikuli was traditionally created with the birth of each new child. Sikuli are sometimes made in solitude, as an aid to meditation or prayer. In other settings, making a Sikuli is part of community connection activities. Yarn and simple instruction will be provided. You may also want to bring a sketchbook or journal, and something to write with. The walk culminates with a forest tea, as usual!
